Who Picks Up Your Trash in Florida? All 67 Counties, 2026

Florida has no statewide list of who collects household garbage. Each county decides how homes outside city limits get service, and every city decides for itself. This table puts the county answer for all 67 counties in one place, with the official page to check, as of October 13, 2026. In 33 counties the county contracts or franchises a hauler; in 10 there is no county curbside service at all, and homes hire their own hauler or haul to a county site.

Where a home sits decides who picks up its trash. Inside a city, the city's own crews or its contract hauler collect, on the city's schedule. Outside city limits, it is the county's arrangement in the table below. Many counties put the cost on the November tax bill as a solid-waste assessment, which is why it shows up in the non-ad valorem assessment study and not in the millage rate.

Garbage pickups a week is filled only where the county or its hauler publishes it. Yard waste, bulk items and recycling run on their own schedules, and many counties have ended curbside recycling in the last two years (Clay, Putnam and Wakulla among them).

What this means for a buyer

Before closing, find out whether the home is inside a city and which hauler serves the street. If the county bills the service on the tax bill, the seller's last bill shows the solid-waste line, and the tax lookup adds the county's fee where it can be figured from county records. In the subscription counties, nothing is on the tax bill: call a licensed hauler to start service, or plan on drop-off trips. The closing cost estimate covers the rest of the move-in costs.

For the pickup day itself, the pickup day lookup reads it by address from the 24 services that publish their routes, and shows who collects everywhere else.

Methodology and sources

Each county row was checked on October 13, 2026 against the county's own website, county GIS service layers that name the hauler, county news releases and, where the county publishes nothing, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's county solid waste contacts list. A hauler is named only when a source names it; "hauler's page only" means the company lists the county as a service area and the county does not say so. The table describes the unincorporated county; cities set their own service and are not covered. Contracts change: Alachua, Highlands and Palm Beach began new contracts on October 1, 2026, and Hernando and Jackson changed haulers in January 2026. The official page in each row is the source to trust for a specific address. This is general information, not a service guarantee.
